FIRST Tech Challenge

The FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a competition centered around teamwork and strategy. Students across the globe participate in this competition through schools or just personal groups. Each year a new, more complex challenge is released to the stimulate young minds across the planet, where they will compete head to head against other teams to test their skills. Teams are given a 10-week build period to program, build, and perfect their robots to compete against other teams, all with the same goal in mind: to win. The FIRST Tech Challenge is open to students who are in grade 7 to 12.

The concept behind FTC stemmed from the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) and its first FTC season was revealed in 2005 as Half-Pipe Hustle. The primary goal of FTC is to provide a wider audience of young people with an opportunity that is lower-cost, and more accessible compared to the FIRST Robotics Competition.
